Northernmost Point
– Fugui Cape Lighthouse
Built in 1897, Fuguijiao Lighthouse is the northernmost lighthouse on Taiwan’s main island. Its black-and-white octagonal tower overlooks the ocean and was rebuilt in concrete in 1962. Known for frequent fog in autumn and winter, it’s long used with a foghorn to guide ships. The lighthouse and its surroundings are now open to visitors, especially at sunset.
Sits at Taiwan’s westernmost point in Tainan, rising 32.7 meters on a sandbar.
Surrounded by dunes, it’s a steel-framed beacon known for dramatic sunsets and wide, open ocean views.

Built in 1931, Sandiaojiao Lighthouse is the easternmost point of Taiwan, nicknamed the “Eye of Taiwan.” It features an exhibition hall and plaza, and is a top spot for sunrise photography.

Northernmost Point – Fugui Cape Lighthouse
Built in 1897 during the Japanese colonial era, Fuguijiao Lighthouse stands as the northernmost point of Taiwan’s main island.
Reconstructed in 2002, its striking black-and-white octagonal tower was originally equipped with the island’s first foghorn to guide ships through frequent mist. In summer, visitors can witness the breathtaking “Lighthouse Sunset,” making it both a historic and natural landmark of Taiwan’s North Coast.
Westernmost Point – Guosheng Lighthouse
Located on the Qigu sandbar in Tainan, the Guosheng Lighthouse was rebuilt in 1957 and features a distinctive iron tower design.
Unlike other lighthouses, it stands amid vast wetland sands, creating a desert-like wilderness ambiance that blends beautifully with sunsets and starlit skies, offering a unique fusion of natural and artistic charm.

Southernmost Point – Eluanbi Lighthouse
Constructed in 1881, this iconic white cylindrical lighthouse sits in Kenting National Park, marking Taiwan’s southernmost tip.
Its fortress-like design adds historic charm, while the powerful rotating lens installed in 1962 casts light up to 27.2 nautical miles, earning it the title “Light of East Asia.” Surrounded by sweeping ocean vistas, it ranks among Taiwan’s Eight Scenic Spots.
Easternmost Point – Sandiaojiao Lighthouse
Located on Taiwan’s northeastern coast, it’s the first place on the island to see the sunrise, earning it the nickname “Taiwan’s Eye.” Built in 1935 and rebuilt after the war, the lighthouse features a coastal exhibition hall and a Mediterranean-style plaza.
With sweeping views of the sea and nearby Guishan Island, it’s a popular spot for sunrise viewing and photography.
