Patuxay

a monumental war memorial in Vientiane completed in 1968. It honors those who died in Laos’ struggle for independence, and though it’s likened to Paris’ Arc de Triomphe, its design is distinctly Laotian with decorative towers, lotus motifs, and mythological figures. climb to the rooftop for sweeping city views.

Vientiane Museum of Contemporary Arts

​a unique cultural landmark in Laos that exhibits Laos’s rich wood carving art and traditional craftsmanship. Located in the capital Vientiane, the museum displays over 20,000 precious large wood root carvings, full-wood sculptures, and panel paintings.

Alms Giving

Each morning between 5:00 AM and 7:00 AM, local monks walk barefoot along the sidewalks in their distinctive saffron robes to collect alms (offerings of food) from devotees. This ritual provides the monks with their daily sustenance.

Local residents line the streets to offer sticky rice and other traditional foods. In return, the monks chant blessings as a gesture of gratitude.

Royal Palace Museum

Built in 1904 as King Sisavang Vong's residence, this palace became a museum after the monarchy ended in 1975. Its architecture blends Lao traditional design with French colonial style, featuring a cross-shaped layout on multi-level platforms. 

Wat Xieng Thong

A majestic 16th-century royal temple near the Mekong River. Renowned for its classic Luang Prabang architecture and stunning Tree of Life glass mosaic. A UNESCO World Heritage gem.

Dagugang Tea Garden
